1. Prepare Matcha Paste & Tea Concentrate

Matcha Paste: Create a matcha paste (to prevent a watery recipe) by mixing 1 teaspoon matcha to ½ ounce hot (but not boiling) water. Mix matcha into water using a frother or traditional matcha whisk (if you have one).

Chamomile Tea Concentrate: Steep 1 tbsp chamomile in ½ cup hot water for at least 5 minutes. This is a stronger brew to prevent a watery matcha mocktail. You can use a chamomile tea bag if you do not have looseleaf dried chamomile.

2. Add Basil, Honey, & Tea to Glass. Muddle

In your drink glass, add basil, honey, and 2 ounces of the chamomile tea concentrate. Then, muddle the basil to express oils and flavor, and also dissolving the honey into the chamomile tea. Stir to dissolve honey if needed.

Ritualizing the Recipe: As you muddle, visualize breaking down any barriers to manifesting money. Then as you stir the honey, visualize its sweetness drawing abundance your way.

3. Add Mandarin or Orange Juice & Soda Water

Squeeze freshly juice mandarin or orange, and then add 2 ounces to your drink. Top with soda water, as this is what will make our matcha sparkling.

Ritualizing the Recipe: Mandarins and oranges symbolize the sun, wellbeing, and blessings. When adding to your recipe, visualize golden sunlight pouring blessings and vitality into your literal and metaphorical cup! And the soda water bubbles raising your intentions to spirit.

4. Add Ice & Matcha Paste

Add ice to your glass, then stir to integrate flavors. Pour matcha paste over the top (you may need to rewhisk it beforehand if it’s been sitting for a bit).

Ritualizing the Recipe: The history of matcha is rooted in the sacred Japanese Tea ceremony, which highlights themes like harmony, respect, and connection to nature. It is also a great alternative to coffee, offering caffeine without overstimulation—a more harmonious flow of energy. It is also green, like the color of new growth and abundance in nature, and money (in the US). While adding the matcha atop the soda, visualize financial abundance flowing from the natural world. The visual mixture of gold and green in this citrus matcha mocktail symbolizes wealth.

5. Sprinkle Cinnamon & Stir

Sprinkle the top of your matcha soda with ground cinnamon. Stir to balance the flavors before sipping.

Ritualizing the Recipe: Cinnamon is great for manifestation and fast luck. When sprinkling it, visualize raining down riches or quickening your luck and financial resources. Stir clockwise, mixing together while bringing abundance your way.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of matcha should I use?

In this recipe, you’ll be blending the matcha with other flavors so you can safely use lesser grades to be more financially conscious. I personally liked the way the Navita’s brand tasted, as I found it to offer a good quality with greater value.

Does the matcha preparation matter?

Between the added ingredients and ice, the paste preparation offers the right dilution for a balanced matcha mocktail. However, you can add more water if you prefer. Just make sure you do not use boiling water, otherwise it can give the matcha an unsavory taste.

Can I make this recipe vegan or use another sweetener?

Use your preferred sweetener. Just make sure to add to taste, because the required measurement may be different for proper balance.

Can I use orange juice instead of mandarin?

I tried this matcha citrus mocktail with both mandarin and orange juice, so both can work. Mandarin adds more tang, but orange juice works just as well. And, it’s also a great way to combine your morning ritual of orange juice with some subtle caffeine!

Can I make the recipe without basil?

Basil adds a hint of herbal spice, adding dynamic flavor that melds well with both the citrus and sparkling matcha. Conversely, fresh basil can be hard to keep on hand. It’s not essential to the recipe, so you can absolutely make without.

Can I use chamomile tea?

Yes! You can use chamomile from a tea bag instead of measuring out a tablespoon.

Making a Matcha Money Manifestation Ritual

You might be here just because you love a matcha soda (and who doesn’t?). But, if you’re also here for the ritual and intentionality, then prolific Wealth Witchery author and coach Pamela Chen created a ritual (or as she says, richual) to correspond with the drink.

The beauty of this sparkling matcha is that between the orange juice and matcha, it is a perfect sip to start your day with the vibes of wealth, wellness, and vitality. What you drink, your body digests—infusing that good energy and intention into your spirit. By adding each ingredient with intention, you have already begun the process.

Pamela’s 11:11 Money Manifestation Portal

After making the recipe, you can add a special visualization for money manifestation. Pamela created a ritual aligned to the numerology of 11:11 (something you can tune into everyday at 11:11, or dates with that alignment) and performed this live at this link. The “richual” starts at 33:00 minutes in.

  1. Close your eyes and imagine a tiny square right above your sparkling matcha soda.
  2. Take your fingers to two corners of the square and expand the square a little bigger. Continue the movement, alternating between the corners to stretch the square bigger and bigger.
  3. As you stretch the square open, visualize symbols of wealth on the other side like a portal. For example, this can be gold coins or bills. Reach in and pull it out of the square and into your drink, starting a cascade of that symbol falling into your matcha soda.
  4. As you visualize this flowing abundance, imagine you already have your desire. What does it look, feel, and sound like to have that wealth? Lean into the feeling. Then, take three deep breaths in and call that frequency into your energy field and body.
  5. Sip your citrus mocktail, as the aligned ingredients fuel your energy.
  6. When you’re done sipping, close the portal and express gratitude. So it is.

If you’re unfamiliar with her work, Pamela Chen is a prolific author. I love her book Wealth Witchery. In fact, the ingredients she uses across her spells inspired the ones used in this matcha soda recipe. You can buy a copy of Wealth Witchery here:
