To me, drinks are about connection and alchemy. Since many people in the magical space are sober or alcohol-conscious, I’ve been creating mocktail versions of my recipes since 2017. In fact, my partner is sober!

I believe everyone should have a seat at a table. So, while I highlight my top 7 nonalcoholic witches brew recipes, many more drinks in my blog have mocktail versions. So don’t be afraid to poke around!

What is a mocktail?

A mocktail is essentially a cocktail, but without the alcohol. By utilizing techniques from modern mixology, mocktails are a popular way to enjoy the ritual of drinking and elevated complex flavors—without alcohol. And especially with the influx of nonalcoholic or zero-proof spirits (my favorite being Lyre’s), this is more possible today then ever before.

Some people dislike the “mock” part of mocktail, as though it is “mocking” or a lesser version of a cocktail in some way. So, others might use terms like zero-proof or nonalcoholic cocktails, or even free-spirited. But for others, mocktail has become its own term. By large, mocktail is the most popular and universally understood term. As far as what term to use, it’s really up to you.

Alchemy & Magical Mocktails

Magic Mocktails (and all potions, really) are alchemy. Non alcoholic witches brews combine separate ingredients, selected for their meaning, into something new and magical. Rather just being a sour citrus, a lemon becomes a symbol for the moon and used for cleansing and purification. It invites intentional connection to the natural world, and awareness of meaning and spiritual well being beyond just health benefits. Each ingredient tells a story and facilitates your life’s journey.

When you imbibe a magic mocktail that is aligned to your intention through herbal ingredients, you invite that energy into your vessel, into your life. As your body breaks that witches brew mocktail down, you become infused with that energy. Nonalcoholic magic mocktails can bring a natural alcohol-free high and accompany ritual.

A Witch’s Heart
A Witch’s Heart is a rose, maple, and rosemary potion to awaken the magical memories within, for wisdom, remembrance and magic of the heart. When I originally crafted this recipe, I created only a cocktail version because of the uniqueness of the base spirit. But this year I went back and tested a version using Lyre’s London Dry for a magical mocktail and loved it.
