Ingredients
Method
- In an old fashioned glass, add rosemary, orange, grapefruit peel, bitters, and syrup. Muddle these ingredients together, inviting the oils of the rosemary and grapefruit peel to express themselves into the syrup and orange citrus juice. Then, add one large cube if possible. Pour in rye or bourbon whiskey, and stir clockwise. Garnish with a rosemary sprig to greet the nose and set the tone with its cleansing and calming herbal aroma.
Notes
Simple Syrup is equal parts sugar to hot water. It keeps a level of consistency in sweetness from drink to drink. Simply mix equal parts of sugar and hot water, and allow to cool before use. For this recipe, I recommend pouring the hot water over rosemary (dried or fresh) and letting it steep like a tea for 5 minutes before mixing in the sugar. This allows for a fun and easy way to add nuanced and unique flavors to your concoctions.
